Local ag community says thanks to front-line workers

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Neubauer Farms has a message for front-line workers everywhere.

Thank you.

The farm family enlisted friends in the local agriculture community to film a video expressing their appreciation for those who are out front during the fight against COVID-19.

“We have this time of great uncertainty and it’s so essential we recognize the people on the front lines that are ensuring our health and well being and the others that are making sure that our food gets to the grocery stores and that it’s on the shelves and available to us,” says Nichole Neubauer.

Health-care workers, truckers and grocery store workers are just some of those mentioned in the video.

Educators also get a shoutout in the video that includes Sage and Waylan Watson of Watson Cattle Company, Cypress County councillor Rob Kurpjuweit and 2018 Miss Rodeo Canada Brittney Chomistek.

“For us with kids, their education is of utmost concern and our school systems have found ways to transform education so our kids can remain in an active learning environment from home,” says Neubauer.

The agriculture community itself has also played a vital role during the pandemic. They’ll be out in the fields in a matters of weeks, says Neubauer, and it’s the commitment in months and years past that have secured the food system today.

“Therefore it’s vital that we continue to do basically what we’ve always done. And that is to guarantee safe, affordable food that is in plentiful supply for the Canadian population,” says Neubauer. “I’ve never been more proud of the fact that we grow food for people.”
