COVID-19 response fund created by Community Foundation of Southeast Alberta

MEDICINE HAT, AB -The Community Foundation of Southeast Alberta has established a COVID-19 response fund for the local region.

Community Engagement Coordinator Niki Gray says the fund will address the medium and long term impacts that the pandemic will have across our region.

It will support organizations in Medicine Hat, Brooks, the Oyen area, as well as the County of Forty Mile.

The foundation is also re-purposing the Spring 2020 grant in response to the pandemic.

Gray says those funds will be handed out end of April to June.

“A lot of organizations have had to stop their fundraising. They’ve had to stop their ongoing programs. A lot of programs are face to face out in the community so they’ve had to stop that. So operating funds are definitely a need and it depends again if they are boots on the ground working with our vulnerable population.”

Gray says organizations like the food bank, Mustard Seed, and Salvation Army will be seeing a need.

She adds, funds donated will stay in your local community.
