MLAs recalled to debate emergency legislation
MEDICINE HAT, AB – Alberta MLAs are back in the Legislature today to deal with emergency legislation related to the COVID-19 pandemic, how to support Albertans and the economic future of the province.
“Our government understands that this is a challenging period of uncertainty for many Albertans,” says Government House Leader Jason Nixon. “We want to assure people we are working quickly to ensure that legislation relevant to fighting the spread of COVID-19 and that our economy is set up for success once the worst of the virus passes. Albertans can be certain we are working diligently with the Opposition to address the challenges associated with COVID-19.”
The legislation that will be debated deals with issues such as the modernization of the Public Health Act and protecting residents of mobile homes.
An update to the management of well liabilities in Alberta will be tabled, aimed at helping the oil and gas industry rebound at the end of the pandemic.
