MHPS: Mass gatherings to be reported to the province

Mar 24, 2020 | 12:45 PM

The Medicine Hat Police Service is reminding citizens that if they observe or suspect a mass gathering of 50-plus people to report it online via the provincial government, not the local service.

On its Facebook page today, the MHPS posted that “if you observe or suspect a mass gathering of 50-plus people, you can report it online through the Government of Alberta website” and provided the link to the page.

According to communications coordinator Rita Sittler, Medicine Hat police received online inquiries in recent days about where to report concerns and decided to provide the link.

Chief of Police Andy McGrogan told CHAT News last week that the detachment was closed to the public and created a call centre. He added they continue to respond to calls for service and are making contact with the public when necessary.
