Real Canadian Superstore Medicine Hat to install plexiglass shields to protect customers, staff from COVID-19

MEDICINE HAT- Real Canadian Superstore is taking an additional measure to do their part to safeguard customers and staff from COVID-19.

Announced on their Facebook page Saturday, the Real Canadian Superstore in Medicine Hat will be following Sobeys’ lead in installing plexiglass shields at their checkout counters.

The store also said that they ” are working around the clock to secure medical grade masks, hand sanitizer, and gloves for store colleagues in the face of a worldwide shortage of all three. They are making progress and are sending them directly to stores as they get them. But, for a little while longer supply will be inconsistent,” the store said on its Facebook page.

They also say that the company is working to source a hand washing station and a hand sanitizer station at the front of the building.

These are just a few measures the grocery store chain has taken.

Real Canadian Superstore is also limiting the number of customers allowed in the store at any given time .

Their Facebook page also notes the store has shut down its clothing change rooms, and blood pressure machine.

Cashiers will also alternate to every other lane and shopping carts will remain outside to encourage social distancing, the store said.

Real Canadian Superstore is owned under Loblaws and has roughly 2500 stores across Canada.
