MEDICINE HAT, AB – An arrangement will see Canada send back to the United States irregular migrants attempting the cross the border as concerns about the ability to screen claimants for COVID-19 rise.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made the announcement on Friday morning.

The prime minister had praise for the way Canadians have offered assistance in the face of the pandemic.

In particular, he noted retired doctors, nurses and other health-care personnel have come in to help.

Trudeau also announced the government will institute programs that will allow industries that produce such things as face masks and other safety items to scale up production.

The auto parts industry has also reached out for assistance to revamp operations to produce health-care supplies, said Trudeau.

“These new innovative procurement strategies will harvest Canadian talent and know-how to get through these times.
