Redcliff Museum board looking for new members

REDCLIFF, AB — The Redcliff Museum Board is looking for some fresh faces to join its team.

The board, which currently consists of six members, is looking to build its ranks to at least 10 people.

“We are looking for pretty much anybody,” said Thomas Hulit, vice-president of the board. “Whether you’re young or old, male or female, anybody who thinks they can have some impact with us, or is interested in history or volunteering, we would love to have you come along.”

The board helps with operations of the museum, with each member having responsibilities ranging from treasurer to making decisions about the collection.

The museum, which was established in 1980, tells the story of the town and surrounding area.

“Our task is really taking care of the community’s history, and also the local environment, say a 20 to 30 kilometre radius from Redcliff,” he said.

Hulit, who has served for 13 years on the board, notes many of the board members have served for multiple years, and they’re also looking for new perspectives to assist with keeping the museum viable for years to come.

“Everybody that joins the board, and all of our volunteers each brings something unique to the museum and to what they do,” he said. “They’re all members of the community, and so their opinions on the community, and they relate to the community and the history of the community differs with each person.”

Those interested can apply by email at redcliff.museum@gmail.com or by contacting the museum at 403-548-6260.
