MEDICINE HAT, AB – Pancake lovers are getting a stack-full for a good cause today at the local IHOP restaurant as they celebrate Shrove Tuesday and National Pancake Day, with proceeds going to the Children’s Miracle Network.

According to Randall Noble, general manager of the Medicine Hat restaurant, National Pancake Day is a great way for the restaurant, as well as other IHOP locations in Alberta to give back.

“What better way to give back then to help kids that are in dire need,” he said. “All the money raised goes to the Children’s Miracle Network right here in Alberta to help with long-term care that they need. It goes to help furnish the rooms so the parents can stay as well.”

The fundraiser will be going on until 7 p.m. tonight. A silent auction is also taking place with key items being a signed Medicine Hat Tigers hockey stick and a Paul Coffey Oilers jersey. Noble says he expects a good number of people to come out.

“My expected turnout is pretty much a steady flow throughout the day.,” he said. “We’ve had a good lunch rush here where we’ve had quite a few people. The restaurant was full.”

The restaurant hopes to reach its fundraising goal of $5,000 by the end of the day.
