Snowfall warning for areas between Strathmore and Maple Creek, including Medicine Hat, Cypress Hills

MEDICINE HAT, AB – A snowfall warning has been issued for Medicine Hat, Brooks, parts of the County of 40-Mile and Special Areas 2, County of Newell, Cypress County and the Cypress Hills.

Most areas are forecast to see 5 to 10 centimetres of snow starting this evening with a narrow band of heavy snow expected between Calgary and Medicine Hat which could see accumulations of 10 to 15 centimetres, according to Environment Canada.

Snowfall warnings are also in place along that band stretching from the eastern portions of the M.D. of Foothills and Chestermere through to Strathmore, Siksika, Drumheller, Vulcan and surrounding counties as well as the M.D. of Taber near Enchant.

Snowfall is expected to continue overnight, tapering off by morning. Though, Environment Canada is forecasting snow to continue to fall into Monday in Medicine Hat and the northern slopes of the Cypress Hills.

The snowfall warning extends east to Maple Creek which is expected to see accumulations of between 10 and 15 centimetres starting tonight and throughout Monday.

Gusting northerly winds are expected which will cause reduced visibility due to blowing snow.

The systems is expected to move south into Montana late Monday.
