E-petition closes with record number of signatures

E-petition supporting Canadian firearms owners receives record number of signatures

MEDICINE HAT — An online petition initiated by Medicine Hat resident Brad Manysiak and sponsored by Medicine Hat-Cardston-Warner MP Glen Motz, has closed with the largest number of signatures in the history of e-petitions.

Nearly 175 thousand people added their names to the on-line petition by the time it closed on Saturday.

The petition opposes the Liberal’s plan to ban military style assault rifles through an Order in Council, which would bypass the democratic progress of the House of Commons.

In a release, Motz said ” the Liberal’s policies are targeting law-abiding firearms’ owners instead of criminals and gangs, which are the real issue. It’s much harder and more difficult to go after criminals and illegally trafficked firearms, but that is the difficult work that Conservatives have always been prepared to do.”
