Medicine Hat, AB – The results of a review of Alberta Health Services announced by the provincial government shortly after the 2019 election will be released on Monday.

The review conducted by Ernst and Young had the mandate to examine the administration of AHS, evaluating its programs, comparing it to other provincial health services and gather input from stakeholders.

It`s the first comprehensive review of the AHS since it replaced regional health boards in 2009.

Alberta Health announced on Friday it has opened up bids from private facilities to provide additional surgeries.

This will assist in the government`s Alberta Surgical Wait-Times Initiative aimed at increasing the amount medical procedures by 80,000, stated a release from the Health ministry.

Savings identified from the AHS review is expected to fund the increases in surgeries, according to the province.
