One killed in Christmas Day fire in Cardston

Cardston, AB – Shortly after midnight on Christmas Day, RCMP and Cardston County Fire and Emergency Services (CCFES) received a numerous 911 calls about a fire at a motel in the town.

When they arrived on scene, officers evacuated all the occupied rooms, to ensure the safety of those who were unaware of the situation. However, witnesses reported a man inside one room had not left.

Officers and firefighters gained entry to the room and located the adult male, who was severely injured. He was transport to the Chinook hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
