Train and SUV collide just east of Taber

TABER, AB – One person was sent to hospital after a train collided with a vehicle.

The M.D. of Taber Regional Fire Service was called to the intersection of Highway 3 and Range Road 16-1 at 8:00 pm Tuesday.

“As it was the weekly training night for the Stations the chute times were once again impressive as all units left Station 4 fully manned in record time.”

Upon the arrival of first responders, they found the SUV on fire.

No train cars were derailed and no hazards are present on the roadway.

“There is no danger to the public.”

One person was taken to hospital, but officials did not clarify the extent of the injuries.

RCMP and CP Rail Police are investigating.

Until the investigation has been completed, Range Road 16-1 between Highway 3 and Township Road 10-2 will remain closed.
