Hudson’s Bay Company store at Medicine Hat Mall closed Monday due to flooding

MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Hudson’s Bay Company store at the Medicine Hat Mall remains closed for the day after being flooded.

The Medicine Hat Mall confirmed the store was closed, and vacuum trucks can be seen outside sucking water Monday morning.

News of the flooding was posted on social media channels in Medicine Hat.

Just after 4:30 p.m. on Monday, HBC released a statement to CHAT News.

“Due to a sprinkler malfunction, we have temporarily closed the Hudson’s Bay store in Medicine Hat,” the statement reads. “The safety of customers and associates is our top priority. We are addressing the issue and hope to re-open the store later today.”

The rest of the mall remains open for business as usual.
