KINDERSLEY, SASK. — RCMP in Saskatchewan have confirmed a husband and wife have died in an apparent murder-suicide on Thursday in Kindersley.

RCMP were called to a home in the 1000 block of First Street West shortly after 10 a.m. on Thursday after receiving reports of shots fired. Officers set up a large perimeter through parts of the town to keep people away and safe from a potential threat.

Schools in the area were placed in hold and secure during the day, and officers worked to locate and secure immediate family members to inform them of the unfolding situation and ensure their safety.

At approximately 3 p.m., the Saskatchewan RCMP Emergency Response Team gained entrance to the home, located two deceased adults.

RCMP says their investigation leads them to believe the incident was a murder-suicide. An autopsy is being conducted Friday.

The names of the deceased are not being released, and the family has requested privacy.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
