Medicine Hat, AB–A man charged with second degree murder in connection with a homicide on New Year’s Eve 2016 is set to begin on Monday at the Court of Queen’s Bench.
Leonard Beaulieu was originally scheduled to go on trial in May. He was charged in February 2017 following the death of Jordan Pede.
Pede was found badly injured in Strathcona Island Park on New Year’s Eve. He was rushed to hospital in Calgary but died 11 days later.
A second man charged in connection the death of Pede, Luke Boxell, pleaded guilty to a charge of manslaughter last year in Medicine Hat Court of Queen’s Bench, and was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
