Second arrest made in Hanna ATM robbery

HANNA, AB — RCMP have arrested a female suspect wanted in connection with an ATM theft in Hanna in November.

Ashlyn Tomolty, 33, was recently spotted by RCMP in Consort with another male, according to a news release sent by RCMP Wednesday afternoon. When officers attempted to arrest the two, they fled the scene, with a male stealing a vehicle that was left running in a gas station parking lot. The vehicle was later located abandoned, and the pair were arrested following a short foot chase.

Tomolty, who was wanted on arrest warrants in Barrhead, was charged with three counts of possession of property obtained by crime, and one count each of resist arrest, possession of break-in instruments, possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a controlled substance. She was released from custody, and is scheduled to appear in Coronation Provincial Court on December 13.

Tomolty is alleged to have stolen an ATM from a Hanna business on November 23. Rick Atzler was arrested in the days following the theft and is facing multiple charges in Oyen, Coronation and Provost in connection with multiple break and enters and a police pursuit on November 24. Atzler’s charges include dangerous operation of a conveyance, flight from police and theft over $5,000.

Arrested with Tomolty was Darwyn Beaudry, 37, who was wanted on warrants in Canmore. He is facing 14 charges, including four counts of possession of property obtained by crime, and one charge each of assault a police officer, assault with a weapon, flight from police and dangerous operation of a conveyance.

Beaudry remains in police custody.
