Canada Post releases deadlines for holiday mail and parcels

MEDICINE HAT, AB — If you’re shipping gifts or cards during the holidays, Canada Post has released the deadline dates to ensure your item arrives at its destination before Christmas Day.

For packages within Canada, Canada Post says if you’re sending items by regular parcel, the latest you can send it so it arrives by Christmas is December 11.

The deadline is December 20 if sending by Xpresspost, and December 23 by Priority Mail.

If you’re shipping packages to the United States, parcels and packets should be mailed by December 10. If you’re sending items to the U.S. by Xpresspost, the deadline is December 13 and the Priority Worldwide Deadline is December 19.

And if you’re shipping to Europe, air parcels and packages need to be shipped by December 3 for regular mail, by December 6 by Xpresspost and December 18 by Priority Worldwide.

When it comes to cards, if you’re sending within your city, December 20 is the latest you can send it to ensure it gets there before Christmas. December 19 is the deadline to send cards within the province, with December 18 the deadline for within Canada.

The deadline to send cards to the United States is December 9, while December 2 is the deadline for Europe.
