BONNYVILLE, AB – The Brooks Bandits (24-1-1) came back from a 2-0 deficit after the first period, but fell for just the second time this season in a 4-3 overtime loss in Bonnyville on Saturday night.

Brooks outshot the Pontiacs 32-24, and nearly won with a breakaway right off the start of overtime, but fell 2:26 into the extra frame when Marc-Antoine Benoit fired a puck home from the top of the crease.

Bonnyville took the 2-0 advantage after a shorthanded breakaway goal by Jaden York at 2:03 and a tipped power play shot from Ethan Sundar at 9:49.

But Brooks dominated the second, scoring on a Corson Ceulemans (Beaumont, AB) shot from the high slot at 13:24, and tying the game less than two minutes later when Sean Chisholm (Caledonia, ON) spun and fired home a shot from a similar area to make it 2-2 heading into the third.

The Bandits took their first lead of the night at the 10:40 mark when Taylor Makar (Calgary, AB) fired a shot from the left circle that was tipped in by Chris Pappas (Toronto, ON). But Bonnyville tied it with 2:50 left on a Benoit shot from the high slot.

In overtime, after Brayden Krieger was denied on the early breakaway, Jeremy Gervais found Benoit in behind the Brooks defence for an open shot on Pierce Charleson (Aurora, ON), ending the game despite a sequence of sensational sprawling pad saves by the Brooks goaltender late in the third period and throughout the extra frame.

The Bandits will return home Friday night to host the Okotoks Oilers for just the second time this season. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 PM with tickets available online at tickets.brooksbandits.ca.
