LETHBRIDGE, AB – UPDATE (12:42 pm): Lethbridge Police have confirmed that four people were arrested. There is no danger to the public at this time. Charges are pending. Firearms were recovered.

Original Story:

Lethbridge Police were informed of what is believed to be a gun or guns being fired on the west side.

According to police, the gunshots occurred in the 400 block of Columbia Blvd West but did not say what time.

LNN talked to a few residents in the area, who said it happened at 471 Columbia Blvd West. Although they gave a few conflicting reports on the timing, two people backed up a report from someone who lived in the same building that a loud bang was heard at approximately 7:40 am.

While several people heard gunshots, none actually saw what happened.

The resident from the same building told LNN that it took around 20 minutes for several police vehicles to arrive and were only on the scene for a brief period.

Police are asking the public to stay away from the area for the time being.

“This is a developing situation and further information will be provided as it becomes known,” reads a media release from Lethbridge Police Service.

We are expecting to learn more about the situation in the coming hours.
