EDMONTON, AB – A pair of team podium finishes and a handful of top-10 finishes is what Rattlers golfers will be bringing back to Medicine Hat College this week from the ACAC North Regional tournament.

Both the Rattlers women’s and men’s teams earned top-three finishes in their respective divisions over the weekend at RedTail Landing in Edmonton.

The Rattlers women’s team of Nicole Schultz, Sierra Zukowski, and Ciara Bonogofski combined to shoot 59 over par over two rounds of play and tied the SAIT Trojans for second place behind Concordia University.

Schultz and Zukowski were also able to haul in fourth and fifth place finishes in the women’s individual event, finishing their weekends at 27 and 32 over par.

As for Bonogofski, she fired an 111 on Sunday to end her weekend at 76 over par for a 15th place finish.

The women’s ACAC North Regional crown went to Kennedy Turcotte, who ran the table to shoot a four-over, 76 on Sunday to win gold for Concordia by 13 strokes.

As for the Rattlers men’s team of Caleb Kinch, Chase Broderson, Mathieu Chapdelaine and Derek Whitson, they finished at 23 strokes over par and came out of Edmonton with a third place finish just nine shots behind SAIT for gold.

Chapdelaine had the best score of any Rattler at the North Regional tournament, going one-under on Sunday to wind up at two-over in a tie with Brady Johnson for fifth place.

He was followed by a ninth place finish by Broderson at four over par and a tie for 10th place for Caleb Kinch at five over par.

Kent Lesko came in at 18-over for his tournament and tied for 22nd place, while Logan Crawford was just six-over on Sunday and climbed to 33rd place overall in the tournament.

A birdie on the 18th hole was good enough for MacEwan’s Justin Berget to steal the ACAC North title away from Michael Harrison, ending his championship round at three-under to win by one stroke.

Rattlers golfers will return to ACAC play on Saturday morning for opening round action at the ACAC South Regional tournament at Valley Ridge Golf Course in Calgary.
