Vikings victorious in Taber, Mohawks fall to Knights in exhibition tilt

Sep 14, 2019 | 12:06 PM

TABER, AB – It may have just been an exhibition game, but the Crescent Heights Vikings are out of the gates with two wins in two weeks to start the local high school football season.

On Friday night, the Vikings led by Tony Simmons were able to capture a 21-13 victory against the W.R. Myers Rebels in Taber.

Friday’s win came one week after the Vikings dropped the Brooks Buffalos 20-13 to open their 2019 season.

The Medicine Hat High Mohawks weren’t able to share that same feeling however, as they lost their exhibition tilt in Okotoks against the top-ranked Holy Trinity Academy Knights 21-4.

The Mohawks and Vikings will play their long-awaited first game of the season against each other next Friday, getting the regular season back underway for Week 3 Rangeland Football Conference action.

As for the Monsignor McCoy Colts, they’re getting set for a rare Saturday exhibition tilt against the Pincher Creek Mustangs at 2:30 pm at the Methanex Bowl.
