‘I can play at that level’: Kemp on stint with NY Rangers

MEDICINE HAT, AB — There’s no shortage of NHL experience newly infused into the Medicine Hat Tigers dressing room.

James Hamblin (Toronto Maple Leafs), Ryan Chyzowski (Winnipeg Jets), and Brett Kemp (New York Rangers) are back in the Gas City after spending the last week in NHL rookie camps.

All three are calling their stints successes, and are proud of how they performed with NHL brass watching from above.

Mitch Bach of CHAT Sports caught up with the three forwards to hear how the experience can serve as a benefit to the upcoming campaign, and whether they believed they deserved a chance at respective main camps.

Tigers netminder Mads Søgaard remains in the nation’s capital after receiving an invite to Ottawa Senators main camp. This is creating a temporary tandem in Garin Bjorklund and Evan Fradette.

Fradette, newly acquired from the Portland Winterhawks, will make his Tigers debut in Friday night’s preseason match in Red Deer. Bjorklund is the confirmed starter for Saturday’s preseason game in Taber against the Calgary Hitmen.
