Lots to do in the Hat over the Labour Day weekend

Medicine Hat, AB – There is no shortage of things to do in and around the city if a stay-cation is on tap for the last long weekend of summer, according to Tourism Medicine Hat’s executive director.

Jace Anderson says from rafting down the South Saskatchewan to taking in one of the country’s largest star parties at the Cypress Hills dark sky preserve, there is a lot to do close to home this weekend.

“But right here in town, there is a remarkable list of things that you can do,” said Anderson. “If your primary goal is to appreciate what is going on to get out but at the same time to relax and be a part of that healthy transition into whatever you’ve got coming after the long weekend.”

For Anderson, his activity of choice over this long weekend is simple.

“I’ve got a couple of real favourites. Whether I’m having a coffee, whether I’m going to take advantage of the brand new micro-brewery open on Third Street or a restaurant – really, it’s going to revolve and mix around those.”

Friday night will see the city’s Grit City Distillery join with Medicine Hat Brewery, Hell’s Basement and Travois join forces to host its Booze and Brews Concert at the Medicine Hat Lodge. Also this weekend is the last chance to enjoy outdoor swimming at Hill Pool and Echo Dale. And the Farmers’ Market continues on Saturday through the fall.
