MEDICINE HAT, AB — Dust off those jerseys, Tigers fans, your number one goaltender has returned in the Gas City.

Mads Søgaard skated for the first time at the Canalta Centre Tuesday morning, less than 24 hours after arriving back on Canadian soil.

It’s been a whirl-wind summer for the 6’7″ Danish netminder after what was a tremendous rookie campaign in orange and black.

In late June, Søgaard was selected in the second round of the NHL Entry Draft in Vancouver by the Otttawa Senators. From there, he ventured to the Canadian capital for rookie development camp before heading to San Diego for a summer’s-worth of off-ice training and conditioning.

Mitch Bach of CHAT Sports caught up with Søgaard upon his arrival in the Hat to hear more about his summer training regime, his thoughts on preparing for his sophomore WHL campaign, and what it means to be selected by his brother’s favorite NHL team at the draft.

Søgaard and the rest of the nine-Tiger leadership group will head to the Cypress Hills on Thursday for team building. He’ll return with the group later this weekend with Tigers training camp ramping up later this month.

Søgaard says he’s planning to attend Senators prospects camp in early September.
