Following a surge from Kyra Constantine, Watson was handed the baton into the final lap with the lead for Team Canada.

Watson however was caught by Olympic gold medallist Courtney Okolo out of the final turn, giving the United States the gold medal with a time of 3:26.46.

Jamaica picked up the bronze medal six-tenths of a second behind Canada, while the team of Watson, Constantine, Natassha McDonald, and Aiyanna Stiverne posted a season best time on Saturday.

It was a breakout week in Lima for the Seven Persons product, as Watson also took home a gold medal in the women’s 400 metre hurdles.

Watson’s next major competition wearing the maple leaf will come at the end of September, representing Canada at the 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships.
