Scaling Down

Cypress County de-mobilizing fire crews in Graburn Road area

DUNMORE, AB – Cypress County is scaling down it’s response in the Walsh area with the Graburn Road fire under control by local firefighters.

In a release from Cypress County, they say crews have finished work on the perimeter of the area and began de-mobilizing on Tuesday.

Evening crews stationed at the scene will continue to monitor for hot spots, while landowners armed with handheld thermal imaging cameras will be assisting firefighters as well.

Over 17,000 hectares if land has burned in the Walsh area over the last few weeks, as gusting winds flared up many of the hot spots in the Graburn Road region.

Despite the scaling down of resources, the fire ban stretching across Cypress County remains in place along with the state of local emergency.
