Mavericks top Miller Express 8-5

MEDICINE HAT, AB – the Medicine Hat Mavericks found their way back to the win column just hours after a marathon game which ended Friday morning.

Taking on the Moose Jaw Miller Express 17 hours after completing the longest game in Western Canadian Baseball League history, the Mavericks came away with an 8-5 victory at Athletic Park Friday night.

The Mavericks scored five runs in the third inning, and we able to hold onto their lead through the game.

Sal Rodriguez, PJ Garcia and Collin Klingensmith each batted in two runs for the Mavericks during the game.

Cole Warken batted in two of the runs for Moose Jaw.

Owen Steele of the Mavericks pitched seven full innings to earn the win Friday. He struck out four batters while allowing seven hits, five runs and five errors. Garrett Nicholson earned a save during the game.

Michael Ross took the loss for the Miller Express. He pitched six full innings, allowing 10 hits, six runs and six errors. Ross struck out three batters during the game.

A rematch between the Mavericks and Miller Express goes Saturday night at 7:05 p.m.
