Two residential robberies in 12 hours

Homes on Carswell Road and Cuyler Road S.E. hit by robbers

Update : City police say two people forced their way into an apartment on Carswell Road S.E. around 3:30 this morning.

One of them had a knife and made threats toward the residents of the apartment, demanding money.

Several personal items were taken from the victims and two of them suffered physical injuries.

Major crimes is still investigating and 2 people are in custody.

Police believe the residence and the individuals inside were specifically targeted and there’s no general public safety risk.

MEDICINE HAT —The major crimes section of the Medicine Hat city police service is investigating a residential armed robbery this morning.

It happened at a residence in the zero hundred block of Carswell Road S.E.

Not much detail is available at the moment, but police do say there were minor injuries to some of the people involved.

It was the second robbery in less than 12 hours.

Sometime after 7 o’clock last night police were called to a residential robbery in the 100 block of Cuyler Road S.E.

Officers say a male in the home was allegedly assaulted, threatened with bear spray and had money stolen. He sustained minor injuries, but did not require medical attention.

2 people were arrested and remain in custody pending a bail hearing on charges that will include possession of a dangerous weapon, obstructing a peace officer and robbery.

Officers say all individuals involved in the matter knew each other, and there is no further risk to general public safety.
