Alberta Health to review three systems that give patients information

EDMONTON, AB – The provincial government is undertaking an independent review of three health information systems utilized by Alberta Health Services.

The request for proposals has now gone out for a review of Alberta Netcare, MyHealth Records, and the soon to launch Connect Care platform.

“Health-care providers and patients should be able to access health information as quickly and easily as possible,” states Tyler Shandro, Minister of Health.

“As we committed in our campaign platform, this third-party review will ensure our health information systems are implemented efficiently and help deliver better results for Albertans.”

According to a release, Alberta Netcare is the province’s electronic health record.

MyHealth is an online took which allows adults to see their information from Alberta Netcare, such as lab results, immunizations, and medication history.

Connect Care is a new clinical platform which will support AHS health-care providers and enable Albertans to access other information through MyHealth.

The review is expected to begin this summer with a final report to be ready for government by Dec. 31, 2019.
