MEDICINE HAT, AB — Construction has been moving quickly on Aurora’s largest cannabis facility, located in Medicine Hat along Box Springs Road.

However, it’s unknown if the facility is making its deadlines, and Aurora declined to comment on its progress.

In October 2018, David Howe, community relations with Aurora, told CHAT News the first growth bay is expected to be completed around April 2019.

He added people needed to be hired before the first harvest was complete in the first half of 2019.

“We anticipate our first harvest will come in the first half of next year so we need staff coming online before that harvest,” said Howe. “That’s really when the bulk of it will begin.”

Now in June, there’s still heavy construction commencing in many parts of the facility and it’s unknown if any cannabis is currently being grown.

When asked for an update, Aurora said things are progressing along a steady pace, but there’s no public updates to share at this time.
