Mohawks, Vikings roll to victories on Friday night

MEDICINE HAT, AB – A battle of two Medicine Hat high school football teams turned out to be quite one-sided on Friday night.

The Medicine Hat High Mohawks played host to the Monsignor McCoy High Colts at the Methanex Bowl, as both teams kicked off their 2017 regular seasons.

The Mohawks scored early and often on Friday, and rolled to a 41-0 shutout victory over the Colts.

Starting the year with a 1-0 record, the Mohawks are on the road next week for a date with the Willow Creek Cobras out of Claresholm on Friday.

As for the Crescent Heights High Vikings, they continued their regular season on the road against the Strathmore High Spartans.

With a 6-6 tie at half-time, the Vikings piled up 17 points in the second half and captured a 23-6 victory over the Spartans.

Starting quarterback Conner Neufeld threw for 80 yards on the night with one touchdown and one interception.

The game belonged to Vikings running back Creed Willette however, as he rushed for 229 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Now 2-0 on the season, Crescent Heights plays host to the Brooks High Buffalos on Friday evening at the Methanex Bowl.
