Broncs and Honky Tonks Indoor Rodeo returns this weekend

MEDICINE HAT, AB — Medicine Hat is set to get its first taste of rodeo action this weekend, as the Broncs and Honky Tonks Spring Indoor Rodeo takes over the Cypress Centre.

Rodeo action kicks off Friday at 7 p.m., runs Saturday night at 7 p.m., and finishes up Sunday beginning at 1 p.m.

Several local riders are on the official draw, posted Tuesday on the Canadian Pro Rodeo Association website.

From Medicine Hat, Tyler Popescul is listed to perform in Friday’s tie-down roping performance, while Alex Hanson is scheduled to perform in ladies barrel racing on Saturday.

Chelsea Carlier, also from Medicine Hat, is listed in Friday’s slack performance in barrel racing.along with Cora Wutch and former Medicine Hat champion Steffanie Mather.

Finally, Trent Tunke is competing in Sunday’s team roping contest with Tuftin McLeod of Waldeck, Saskatchewan. Kevin Schreiner of Medicine Hat is listed in Friday’s slack performance, teaming with Seven Person’s Braidy Davies.

Several athletes from the Maple Creek area are also competing, including saddle bronc rider Michael Gordon (Friday), barrel racer Colby Gilbert (Saturday), team roper Tanner Jones (Saturday, teaming with Bow Island’s Taylor Wudrich) and bull rider Jared Parsonage (Sunday).

Passes for the rodeo are $19 for adults and $9 for children 12 and under. Three day packages are also available for $45 for adults, $20 for children.

Tickets for the rodeo are available online at mhstampede.com, at the Medicine Hat Mall guest services desk, at the Stampede officer, or at the door on event day.

The Stampede is also offering a Family pack on Sunday for two adults and two children aged 12 and under. The pack is $40 and only available at the Stampede office and walk-up ticket window.
