Man pleads guilty to charges in connection with Terrace View dangerous driving incident

MEDICINE HAT, AB — A man scheduled to begin trial on Monday in connection with a dangerous driving incident this past summer has enter guilty pleas to two charges.

Jamie Vorra, 27, appeared in Medicine Hat provincial court on Monday, where he pleaded guilty to charges of dangerous driving and breach of probation.

The Medicine Hat man was arrested on August 13 following an incident in Terrace View NE where a group of people were almost hit by a truck.

According to police, a group of people were outside socializing, when Vorra allegedly got into a truck and drove at a high rate of speed towards the group. The truck came to a stop without hitting anybody in the group, but police say a confrontation occurred.

According to police, one person was allegedly grabbed by the driver, who began to drive away before he was let go and hit the ground. The victim suffered minor injuries.

Vorra was arrested at a home later that morning, and charged with dangerous driving, uttering threats, assault with a weapon and breach of probation.

He entered not guilty pleas in November.

A pre-sentencing report has been ordered, and Vorra is scheduled to be sentenced on June 25.

The charges of uttering threats and assault with a weapon remain before the court, and are expected to be dealt with on June 25 as well.
