MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Hat High Mohawks senior boy’s basketball squad hope to impress the home crowd one last time on Friday night in their annual Senior Night.

Three Grade 12’s will be honoured ahead of their last regular season game against the Magrath Zeniths.

No matter the outcome on the scoreboard, the focus falls squarely on Parker Davidson, Ben Menesho, and Jaxon May, who are set to graduate this spring. All three agree it will be an emotional send-off.

“I’ve played with some of these guys for four years now,” said Davidson. “They’re my best friends, I’ve met them through basketball so it will definitely be emotional being the last game with them at home.”

“It’s the end of my basketball career. It’s tough to think about knowing it’s finally going to be over,” Menesho added. “I’m definitely sad, I love basketball, I’ve been playing it for years now. This is it for my high school career so it’s definitely a sad moment.”

May echoed the words by his fellow Grade 12 teammates.

“I’m a little sad because it’s my last home game in this wonderful gym that I’ve got to spend all my years in. Even just last year, it’s been a wonderful experience,” he said.

The Zenith’s are slotted seventh in the ASAA 4A Provincial Rankings, boasting a record of 11-1 in league play. They won 112-64 on home court over the Mohawks back on January 20th.

Hat High is full of confidence heading into tonight. The team won their last game 87-70 over Winston Churchill and pushed the 11-1 Cardston Cougars to the edge in a 69-63 road loss.

Tip-off for tonight’s game is at 8:00 p.m.
