MEDICINE HAT, AB — A man charged following a house fire in the Flats last year will be going to trial.

Chad Stadnicki, 41, appeared in Medicine Hat provincial court on Tuesday, where trial dates were set.

Dates have been set for June 12 and 13 in Medicine Hat.

Stadnicki was arrested on October 27, and charged with aggravated assault and arson in connection with a fire at a home in the 1100 Block of Bridge Street SE.

According to police, when they arrived at the home, they found a 32-year-old woman who had managed to escape from the home. The woman suffered “significant” burns to her body, according to police, and was transported to Calgary hospital for treatment.

Stadnicki has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
