Hounds split weekend set after big comeback win

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Midget AA Hounds improve to 16-12-1 after splitting a weekend set of games.

Saturday, Medicine Hat dropped a tight 4-3 game to the Calgary-based CNHA Blazers. Down 1-0 in the first period, Dawson Hittel and Zachery Dovichak scored to give Medicine Hat a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes of play. The Blazers took back the lead in the second, to make it a 3-2 Blazers lead heading to the third period. With 12:46 remaining CNHA extended their lead to 4-2. Brett Gray  cut the lead to 4-3 with just 46 seconds remaining, but that would be as close as the Hounds would get.

Aiden Gleisner picked up two assists in the loss, while goaltender Dawsen Savage stopped 36 of 40 shots.

Sunday, Medicine Hat finished things off on a winning note, beating the struggling Okotoks Oilers 4-3.

It only took 40 seconds for Dawson Hittel to find the back of the net, giving the Hounds a 1-0 lead heading into the second period. The Oilers scored three goals in the second, with the third coming with just seven seconds left in the frame. The third period was all Hounds, with Levi Schlosser scoring back-to-back goals to tie the game at 3-3. Aiden Gleisner scored the game winner with 4:22 remaining, to finish off the come from behind victory.

The Medicine Hat Hounds out shot the Oilers 42-18 in the win, Aidan Kruger finished with 15 saves.

Levi Schlosser and Aiden Gleisner picked up three points in the weekend split.

The Midget AA Hounds host the lSCAHL-leading Lethbridge Hurricanes this Friday at the Kinplex (puck drop 7:15 P.M).
