Mexico: Gunmen kill 9 at home in Monterrey suburb
MONTERREY, Mexico — Gunmen burst into a home in northern Mexico and killed nine people who had gathered to watch a soccer game on TV, authorities said Sunday.
An official with the prosecutor’s office in Nuevo Leon state said at least 20 people were at the home Saturday night in San Nicolas de los Garza, a northern suburb of Monterrey. The official spoke on condition of anonymity due to safety concerns.
Seven men died at the scene and two died later at different hospitals. The victims were listed as between 26 and 58 years old.
Prosecutors believe the motive was a dispute over local drug dealing.
