MEDICINE HAT, AB — After securing 5 out of a possible 8 points on a hard fought Eastern Conference road trip, the Medicine Hat Tigers return home to host the Kootenay ICE tonight. The Tigers and ICE have faced off three times this season with the Tigers winning all three contests, including a 5-4 overtime victory on New Year’s Day.

Medicine Hat Tigers – Mark Rassell has excelled in his role as a leader for the Tigers this year. Rassell is a hard nosed forward with offensive upside who has been able to light the lamp at key moments for his team. The 20-year-old Calgary native has 37 goals so far this season beating his last season’s record of 36 goals in 72 games played. Look for Rassell to get the Tigers on the scoreboard during tonight’s tilt. 

Kootenay ICE – Alec Baer has played well against the Tigers this season, including scoring twice during the New Year’s day contest. Baer has 2 points (1G, 1A) in the ICE’s last two games.

In his first year with the Orange and Black, Linus Nassen has been making a name for himself. Hailing from Sweden, Nassen has 22 points in 38 games with the Tigers. The Tabbies blue line also features the towering shut down defenceman Kristians Rubins. Rubins is the first Latvian born player to ever suit up for the Tigers and he has netted 4 goals and 18 assists so far this season.

Protecting the Paint:

The Tigers acquired 18-year-old netminder Jordan Hollett from the Regina Pats in the offseason. Hollett is a 6th round selection of the Ottawa Senators and currently he is sporting a 14-10-3 record with a 3.38 GAA and a .898 SV% The Orange and Black also have veteran goaltender Michael Bullion. Bullion has a 10-7-1 record posting a .877 SV% and a 3.45 GAA.
