MEDICINE HAT, AB — One of the two men charged in connection with the murder of Jordan Pede is going to trial next year.

A 12-day trial has been set for Leonard Beaulieu, 25, at the Medicine Hat Court of Queen’s Bench, to run January 7-22, 2019.

Beaulieu, along with Luke Boxell, are both charged with second-degree murder in connection with Pede’s murder.

Pede, 24, was found suffering from a gunshot wound in Strathcona Island Park on New Year’s Eve. He died 11 days later in a Calgary hospital.

Boxell was arrested and charged on January 25 and Beaulieu was arrested on Feb. 13 in Winnipeg.

Boxell was also scheduled for arraignment in Court of Queen’s Bench on Friday, but his matters were adjourned.

He will appear in Queen’s Bench for arraignment on February 9, and a trial date is also expected to be set.
