BROOKS, AB – Strength on the man advantaged helped the SEAC Bantam AAA Tigers to their first win of 2018 on Friday night, taking down the GPAC Storm out of Grande Prairie 3-2.

Entering Friday’s meeting, the Tigers were winless in their previous four games with their last victory coming on December 9 against the Calgary Northstars.

The visiting Storm struck first, scoring less than two minutes into the game off the blade of Dayne Tews to take a 1-0 lead.

SEAC knotted things up at 1-1 with 12:52 remaining in the first with a power play goal from captain Mason Mowat, but the Storm jumped back into the lead shortly after with a Jayden Watson marker.

With 3:20 left in the first and the Tigers back on the power play, Ty Moore beat Grande Prairie goalie Terris Lappenbush to make it a 2-2 game at the intermission.

Just 70 seconds into the middle frame, SEAC took their first lead of the game with Moore netting his second power play goal of the night.

Tigers netminder Marek Andres shut things down from there, stopping the rest of the shots he faced to preserve a 3-2 win for SEAC.

Aside from the two goals allowed in the first period, Andres was solid again with a 34-save performance for Tigers.

Trying to keep the ball rolling, the Tigers will look for back-to-back wins on Saturday afternoon when they welcome the Red Deer AAA Rebels to the Centennial Regional Arena.

The SEAC Midget 15’s meanwhile get their second half of the season started on Saturday, kick starting a two-game road swing in Calgary against the CNHA Canucks.
