Sentencing adjourned for woman who pleaded guilty to firearm charge

MEDICINE HAT, AB — A woman charged earlier this year in connection with a seizure of firearms in Irvine had her sentencing delayed until the new year.

Brandalyn Brandham, 31, made a brief appearance in Medicine Hat provincial court on Thursday, where her sentencing was delayed to January 11. She has entered one guilty plea to a charge of unsafe storage of a firearm during an appearance in Medicine Hat provincial court.

Brandham is also facing charges of possession of a loaded prohibited firearm, four counts of unauthorized possession prohibited firearm and one count of possession of a controlled substance, which are expected to be dealt with during her sentencing.

Brandham, along with 37-year-old Denver Ailsby, were arrested on April 13 by member of the Medicine Hat Police Service and Redcliff RCMP

Police seized 10 firearms, bear spray, boxes of ammunition, four homemade silencers, prohibited magazines and 20 grams of marijuana.

Three of the firearms seized were prohibited due to a modified barrel length.

Ailsby was charged with four counts of unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm, one count possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm, one count of unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm, one count of possession of a controlled substance and one count of careless use/storage of a firearm.

Ailsby is also charged with one count of breach of probation, and one count of failure to comply with a probation order.

Ailsby will be going to trial on Feb. 8-9 in Medicine Hat on his charges. No plea has been entered.
