COUTTS, AB — For the second time in less than a month, the Canada Border Services Agency has seized suspected cocaine from a vehicle at the Coutts Border Crossing.

The seizure, which happened on Sunday, saw CBSA officers intercept a semi truck hauling produce from California. The truck was on its way to an Alberta business.

While the vehicle was being examined, officers uncovered 17 bricks of suspected cocaine, weighing 21 kilograms. The bricks were found in a closet area in the cab of the truck.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested, and the suspected cocaine was turned over to the RCMP.

Kuldeep Singh, 39, of Calgary is charged with four counts under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. Singh was scheduled to appear in Lethbridge Provincial Court on Thursday.

The seizure is the second major seizure of suspected cocaine at Coutts in December. Officers seized 99.5 kilograms on December 2, the most ever seized at an Alberta border crossing.
