Man sentenced to 15 months for child luring

MEDICINE HAT, AB — A man accused of child luring has been sentenced to 15 months behind bars.

Aaron Diaz, 38, was in court Wednesday morning along with a special prosecutor from Calgary.

It’s being alleged Diaz used social media to contact victims and arrange meetings.

He was originally facing charges out of Medicine Hat and Redcliff stemming from incidents in 2016.

On Wednesday, with credit for time served, Diaz has 346 days left on his sentence.

He will have to follow numerous conditions once he’s released, along with a one year probation.

Those included not attending any location where children under the age of 16 may be present unless in the presence of his wife or his children.

Diaz must also register as a sex offender.
