BROOKS, AB – Calgary clubs proved to be too tough to handle for SEAC Tigers hockey clubs on Saturday night.

The Midget 15 club was coming off a 5-1 loss to the Rockyview Raiders in Chestermere on Friday, and were back in Brooks to host the NWCAA Bruins.

SEAC opened the scoring just before the midway mark of the first period, as Gavin Schroeder scored his second goal of the weekend on the power play for the Tigers.

Five minutes later however, Bruins forward Kayde Kinaschuk tied up the game at 1-1, which carried over to the second period.

NWCAA went on a tear early in the second, getting goals from Kinaschuk, Tyson Gross, and Aiden Durnford in four minutes to extend their lead to 4-1.

With 54 seconds remaining in the period, Kinaschuk completed the hat-trick for the Bruins to make it a 5-1 game heading to the third.

The Tigers picked up goals from Kobyn Fritz and Caleb Irvine in the third, but ended up losing their fifth straight to the Bruins by a 7-3 final score.

Starter Gage Reimer was pulled midway through the third period after giving up six goals on 21 shots, while backup Nate Hoffman gave up one goal on 12 shots against.

Dropping to a 2-14-1 record on the year, the Tigers sit in last place in the South Division and will be back in action on Saturday when they visit the KC Centennials.

As for the Bantam AAA Tigers, they were in Calgary themselves to face off against the AAA Flames.

Calgary opened with a goal from Jace Benvie less than three minutes in, but SEAC responded with a tying goal from their own #7 in Mason Mowat a few minutes later.

Approaching the 10 minute mark of the first, the Flames added to their total with a goal from Jayden Davis, before the Tigers tied it once again with a Cole Rath marker on the power play.

Knotted at 2-2 in the second period, Calgary jumped back into the lead with a Benjamin Narowski goal 5:48 into the frame.

It stayed a 3-2 Flames lead until the late stages of the third, when Liam Furlong added an empty net goal to seal a 4-2 win for Calgary over SEAC.

Marek Andres was credited with the loss for the Tigers, allowing three goals on 32 shots against between the pipes.

A quick turnaround for the 5-9-2 Bantam AAA Tigers, as they are in action Sunday against the Calgary Royals.
