Bandits dropped 4-1 in Canmore against Eagles
CANMORE, AB – For the first time since November 1, 2013, the Canmore Eagles (10-13-1) beat the Brooks Bandits (16-8-1) in regulation, scoring twice in the first period and never looking back in a 4-1 win at the Canmore Recreation Centre on Saturday night.
The win keeps the Bandits 6 points back of Okotoks for first place in the AJHL South division, with three extra games played.
Despite a 12-8 Bandit shot advantage and early power play advantage in the first period, Canmore tallied twice; the first a Colton Young shot from the slot at 14:12, and the second a one-timer by Tian Rask from the top of the crease on a power play at 17:20.
In the second, the Eagles added a second power play marker when Young notched his second of the game on a screen shot from the high slot. Special teams were a key difference, with both teams having eight man advantages, but only Canmore converting with its two power play goals.
