OTTAWA- A University of Lethbridge professor has been honoured for his work in the field of behavioural neuroscience and neuropsychology.

Bryan Kolb was invested as an Officer of the Order of Canada by Governor General Julie Payette at a ceremony at Rideau Hall Friday, Nov. 17. Kolb was recognized for establishing the Canadian Centre for Behavioural Neuroscience, and for research involving rodents that has led to revolutionary treatments for brain injury and disease in humans.

In an interview with Lethbridge News Now in January Kolb said one of the biggest advancements since he began his work in 1968 was the understanding that the brain changes over the time and can generate neurons following an injury.

Kolb was one of ten recipients of Officer of the Order of Canada honoured during the ceremony, a list that also includes Alex Trebek, the Canadian-born host of the game show “Jeopardy!” Thirty-four Members of the Order of Canada were also invested.
