PEACE RIVER, AB – A man accused of killing two teens on a Northern Alberta reserve has been handed his sentence.

Edward Devin Boyce Gladue, 20, pleaded guilty to second degree murder and will serve life in prison with no chance of parole for 13 years. Gladue is responsible for the July 2016 deaths of Dylan Laboucan, 17, and Cory Grey, 19. The victims had been dating since highschool.

According to an agreed statement of facts read in court yesterday, Gladue went to Laboucan’s family trailer on the Whitefish Lake First Nation reserve and shot Laboucan in the chest. He then suffocated Grey before shooting her at close range. Gladue disposed of their bodies in separate parts of the reserve.

Gladue apologized in court to both families during the sentencing, saying he doesn’t know why he killed the teens and he will regret his actions for the rest of his life.
