Hounds defeated during weekend games

MEDICINE HAT, AB – It was a tough weekend for the Can Pak Environmental Midget AA Hounds, dropping games against the Central Alberta Selects and CRAA Gold.

The Hounds started their road trip on Saturday in Lacombe, where they faced off against the Central Alberta Selects, who took the game 4-1.

Ryley Manz scored the Hounds’ lone goal in the second period, assisted by Levi Schlosser and Desmond Crawford.

Goalie Reese Whelan made 24 saves, but couldn’t stop two quick goals by the Selects` forwards Elijah Johanson and Jayden Nokohoo, followed by another goal from Johanson. Whelan wasn’t in net for a final empty net goal by Isaac Kingma.

The Hounds outshot the Selects 35-27.

The Hounds headed to Calgary on Sunday where they took on the Calgary Royals. The Selects secured a 4-1 win over the Hounds, scoring a goal in the first period and three goals in the third period, including one on an empty net.

Scoring information for the Royals was not available.

Hounds forward Zachary Dovichak buried the puck in the net in the second period, assisted by Ethan Boutkan and Brandon Hauck.

The Hounds hit the road again this weekend for a tournament in Edmonton.
