Police on scene of collision on Dunmore Road

MEDICINE HAT, AB — Medicine Hat police say they have re-opened the Trans-Canada Highway following an earlier collision, but are on the scene of another collision which has backed up traffic.

Police are on the scene of a collision on Dunmore Road and Ravine Drive. A photo submitted to CHAT Television shows eight vehicles are involved.

The road is closed, and drivers are asked to find an alternate route.

On Twitter, the MHPS Traffic Unit tweeted they have cleared the collision involving a jackknifed semi that blocked the westbound lanes of the highway near Medicine Hat College. Road conditions remain poor and police are advising motorists use extreme caution if they have to drive tonight.

According to the MHPS Traffic Twitter account, police has responded to 25 collisions between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. another 19 collisions have been reported at the Collision Reporting Centre at the police station.
